Finally after a while we came to Anderson damn and the Coyote creek trail! What a gem! No cars and very little bike traffic. We had the place to ourselves!
So we got kinda lost but with the land being so flat we just kept heading in the right direction. we were looking for this legendary off road bike path called “Coyote creek trail” Google had shown us that we could ride from Gilroy/Morgan hill area to almost downtown san jose on this bike/hike trail for 22 miles and we were eager to find it,get off the car streets.
We were running really low on water and noticed this caboose in someones front yard. We ended up yelling at the home owner asking him for directions to the trail, after all if you have a caboose in your front yard we are sure you are used to talking to strangers.
The land owner was very nice and gave us great directions and even filled up our water supplies(thank goodness) And sent us on our way with a smile. Thank you kind sir!
Gilroy ca. Garlic capitol of the world!
The smell of garlic was almost overwhelming while we rode thru fields and fields of it!
The temps were in the 80’s with lots of sun
Finally we reached the top of Hecker pass. It’s all down hill from here to Gilroy Ca.
Historic Mt. Madonna Inn Closed. Not sure if they are ever gonna reopen this, but from the deck, what a view!

After lots of flat riding we started the climb up Hecker pass. Nice weather for riding and the traffic was pretty light. Nice rest stops for head scratches.
