Alex and Cameron on tour down from the bay! We hung out with these two adventures for the morning sharing stories and drinking coffee. Was really great meeting you guys, hope you ride in the PDBird Gran Fondo!!
We stopped to rest in the shade. the temps were in the high 80’s and felt much hotter. It was really really dry down there and the was the only green/lush space for miles.
Spring was in the air all along the bay trail at oyster point. Baby geese everywhere!
Coyote creek trail at 7am We stopped at this park to use the restrooms and cook some oatmeal. While we were there we met this gentleman that works for the county. He said he was a cyclist to and was very interested in me and my Popi’s travels.
Then he gave us some great water and Popi some gatorade “From one cyclist to another!” This also happened to be “Bike to work day” in the bay area and we began to se some riders riding to work. We rang our cowbell and cheered them on as they passed our breakfast table.
Side note; If your a bike nerd can you will notice that the Brooks saddle is being held together with cardboard and zip ties.
Gilroy ca. Garlic capitol of the world!
The smell of garlic was almost overwhelming while we rode thru fields and fields of it!
The temps were in the 80’s with lots of sun
Finally we reached the top of Hecker pass. It’s all down hill from here to Gilroy Ca.

After lots of flat riding we started the climb up Hecker pass. Nice weather for riding and the traffic was pretty light. Nice rest stops for head scratches.
When we crossed the Bird river we got onto this levee and rode car free for miles around Watsonville CA to the east.
