When we showed up and explained our situations the owner Micah told Popi that if if he just Popped the wheel off he would fix it for for us!! This was truley awesome cause we had anticipated not being able to properly true the wheel if we installed the spoke on the curb or something.
The shop was really nice new and clean. Well stoked with all the things you might need for everyday cycling to touring.
In Less then 5 minutes! Our spoke was replaced,tire back on ,wheel trued in the wheel stand and back in my Popis hands. Really amazing.
If you live in(Or riding thru) Monterey or the Monterey Peninsula you really should do yourself the favor and go check out this Treal bike shop.
This is really a gift to the Monterey bike scene.
Our situation with the spoke.
So being on a shoestring budget,we had left us 20 bucks cash in case of events like this came up on our way to points south(LA). We carry and cook most all our food on the trips like this and its the only way we can travel so cheaply. So after biking all the way to town we realized that we had lost the freakin 20 bucks.
SO….We rode around with 70 cents looking for a shop that would sell us the spoke and allow Popi to use the proper tool to get the cassette off the wheel. There is no bike kitchen or church in Monterey and the closet thing to it, Mike at Green pedal couriers did not have the tool.
…..But he did turn on to a bike shop that might be able to help. He said that these two guys who had worked at another bike shop togther for years had struck out and opened their own business together and that they were hella treal.
So we rode over to see if they could let Popi use the tool.

Bobby and I in Carmel again! Bobby after only one week has started to ride with me on the handle bars. I told him of our plans toride to LA and said that if he did not find a forever home before we left then he was gonna have to go too!
The ride into town was great. This is us in hatton canyon. Its the detour around Carmel hill. What a great day for a bike ride!
Just when we are ready to ride south some more we broke a spoke…
This would not have been such a a big deal if it had not been on the cassette side of the back wheel. The closest place to the south that we can get this fixed is in Moro bay and thats very far. So we must bike north again to fix bike.
We are so ready to continue on the adventure south,but this has to be fixed before we can carry on.
So we rode back to Monterey.
The water is so clear here. Popi shot some shots thru his UV glasses to cut thru the glare. We had an awesome day by the ocean.
We went to the beach! We had this awesome perch right next to the lagoon. Popi went swimming and Bobby B and me just sunned and preened. Then we ate almonds!!!
